Seen something the world should know about?
SIGHTINGS™ is free software for crowdsourcing, citizen journalism and citizen science. Write down what you witnessed, publish it, and allow people around the world to analyze, compare, and understand it.
Free to use. Works in any modern browser. The Mac app needs macOS 13.1 or later.
Mac app won't open?
We're still waiting on Apple to approve our developer certificate, so macOS warns that it can't verify the app. Until that's sorted:
- Unzip the download and drag Sightings into your Applications folder.
- Open it once. When macOS blocks it, click Done.
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to Sightings.
If macOS says the app is damaged, run this in Terminal, then open it again:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Sightings.appWhat you can do with SIGHTINGS™

Write an account of what you experienced, with where and when it happened. Drafts save as you type, and you can edit your posts at any time.
Upload and download evidence
Attach sketches, photos, and other evidence files to your account. And download the files others have shared for your own examination.

People from all over the world contribute their observations, along with where and when it happened, helping to build a comprehensive dataset for analysis.
